High blood pressure, or hypertension, may increase the risk of health problems including kidney damage, stroke and cardiovascular disease. You are more likely to suffer from hypertension if you are overweight, consume salty foods or drink alcohol. Losing excess weight and cutting your salt and alcohol intake may help to reduce high blood pressure. If your blood pressure remains high, however, you may need to take antihypertensive drugs. Drinking Egyptian red tea can also reduce hypertension.

Egyptian Red is a flowering plant often used as a traditional remedy for a variety of ailments, including digestive upset and high cholesterol. However, it is primarily used to lower high blood pressure. It contains antioxidant compounds known as anthocyanins, which gives' potential antihypertensive effects.
